Asia’s First Feed Extrusion Training Programme Empowers the Aquaculture Community

June 1, 2025

The region’s first Feed Extrusion Training Programme was launched in Asia, offering aquaculture researchers and professionals an opportunity to advance their expertise in food extrusion technology. The short course, held from 27 to 29 May, was a collaborative effort between the Singapore Food Agency, Singapore Institute of Technology, AquaPolis, Aboitiz Foods, and leading extrusion solutions provider Clextral.

Over the three days, participants from across Asia immersed themselves in a dynamic learning journey that blended state-of-the-art theory with hands-on experience. The course featured live demonstrations on twin-screw extrusion technology, equipping attendees to fine-tune extrusion parameters for optimal pellet buoyancy. Sessions on formulation, drying and coating techniques, troubleshooting, and quality control empowered participants to drive efficiency and quality in feed production.

The programme also fostered forward-thinking by spotlighting emerging R&D, evolving market trends, and perspectives from industry players. Participants were treated to a guided tour of the Marine Aquaculture Centre’s facilities. The event concluded with a barbecue, offering participants a chance to network and unwind.

This inaugural training programme marks a significant step in supporting Asia’s aquaculture sector, and we look forward to future editions to strengthen regional expertise in feed extrusion technology.
