Dr Jiang Junhui

Executive Director

Junhui is the Executive Director of AquaPolis. He is Director of the Aquaculture Department at the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), leading strategies and innovations for the aquaculture sector. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences at National University of Singapore. His expertise lies in aquaculture genetics, captive breeding and intensive hatchery production. He represents Singapore in Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Centre (SEAFDEC) initiatives.

A/Prof Christoph Winkler

Scientific Director

Christoph is the Scientific Director of AquaPolis. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences at National University of Singapore. He has served the Department as Deputy Head, Assistant Head, and as Chair of the Faculty Teaching Committee and the Graduate Studies Program. His research interests are in skeletal deformities of farmed fish. His laboratory has been using small laboratory fish to study embryo and larval development, the molecular basis of organ formation and as models for human skeletal as well as neurodegenerative disorders. His research findings were published in high impact journals including Nature, Nature Communications, PNAS, Current Biology, Development and others.

Dr Richard Le Boucher

Partnership Director

Richard is the Partnership Director of AquaPolis. He is Director of the Precision Aquaculture Department and Commercial Strategy for Aquaculture at the Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory in Singapore. His expertise is in genetics, nutrition and aquaculture engineering. He has previously consulted for SYSAAF and founded Genotop, a genetic company which was subsequently acquired by IMV Technologies. At IMV, he introduced global mass cryopreservation in salmon hatcheries and led the Disruptive Innovation Department. He holds an MBA and founded Aquattaq, providing aquaculture marketing and sales advice.

Dr Mark Richards

Programme Director

Mark is the Programme Director for AquaPolis. Initially trained as a cell biologist at the National University of Singapore, he transitioned to aquaculture in 2015. He gained hands-on experience in mud crab operations at SEAFDEC in the Philippines before establishing the Centre for Aquaculture Diagnostics and Vaccines at Nanyang Polytechnic, where he innovated solutions for mud crab and shrimp farming. Mark licensed a mud crab grading technology developed through a Temasek Foundation Singapore Millennium Foundation grant and collaborated with farms on crustacean research. Utilising his cell biology expertise, he advanced the cultivated seafood sector by developing fish cell lines and cost-effective culture media, securing licensing agreements. Passionate about sustainable aquaculture, he aspires to own a fish farm in Singapore.

Ms Sharley Goi

Programme Manager

Sharley is the Programme Manager for AquaPolis. Trained as a marine biologist from the University of Plymouth, UK, she subsequently obtained a Master of Science in Sustainable Aquaculture Systems due to her interest in food production from marine resources. She is experienced in designing and establishing programmes and partnerships to drive marine education and conservation, and environmental protection in Singapore. Leaning into her interest in aquaculture and how technology and innovation could enhance food production in this sector, she joined the AquaPolis programme to drive R&D and ecosystem building initiatives.
